About this work
This large etching is an illustrated commemorative certificate given to exhibitors and judges at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts and Modern Industry in Paris in 1925. Devoted to the decorative arts, this exhibition gave the name ‘Art Deco’to the fledgling international movement that saw the flourishing of the applied and decorative arts over the following decade. The organisers commissioned four posters to advertise and promote the exhibition, as well as this commemorative certificate awarded to exhibitors.
