About this work

Charles and Ray Eames were American designers, architects and filmmakers who worked in creative partnership. They were responsible for ground-breaking contributions in the fields of architecture, furniture design, industrial design and photography, and many of their furniture designs are regarded as icons of twentieth-century design. Storage unit, model ESU-400 is a modular storage system of interchangeable parts that came in a range of sizes and a variety of configurations, with a choice of different coloured panels and materials. It was designed to be practical and affordable, using materials that were readily available.
