For Tomas Maier, the pursuit of luxury and craftsmanship was key to evolving Bottega Veneta’s design language. For the label’s autumn–winter 2013 collection, Maier explored the structural and textural possibilities of wool, saying he was curious to ‘us[e] it in different ways, washing it, bonding it, or felting it to create a print’. Here the designer explores the degree to which the fabric can be draped and manipulated, exposing the seams of the wool dress’s sculptural shoulders, which collapse into a draped, petal-like neckline.
