About this work

Founded in 1966 by Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro, the Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta is known for its signature intrecciato leather-weaving technique, involving basketry-like interwoven strips of material. In 2001 German-born Tomas Maier was appointed creative director. During his tenure, Maier played a pivotal role in transforming Bottega Veneta into a global business. Fostering a sophisticated minimalist aesthetic, Maier materialised the brand identity of Bottega Veneta’s refined elegance and understated luxury. This dress showcases Maier’s championing of the fashion house’s artisanal heritage to realise his vision of contemporary relaxed glamour.
