About this work

Ever-present in John Galliano’s 2015 spring–summer Artisanal collection is his understanding and execution of historical tailoring and construction. Look 10, a dramatic floor-sweeping coat, reinterprets familiar features of his graduate collection such as the coin-covered buttons and highwayman collar. Galliano also references cavalry and military aesthetics in the cut of the coat while playfully embellishing the work with Second World War and nineteenth-century solider figurines, creating an uncanny landscape in miniature.
