About this work

For Gucci’s 2016 autumn–winter collection, Alessandro Michele fused 1980s shoulder pads with sixteenth-century bodices. He also collaborated with New York street artist and musician Trouble Andrew to spray-paint the Gucci ‘G’ logo on biker jackets and to produce interlocking ‘G’ and chain pattern repeats. This mix of high and low culture challenges traditional notions of ‘luxury’ fashion.
