About this work
Watanabe’s Anti, Anarchy and Army collection highlights the ongoing influence of military dress and uniforms in the designer’s work. On the runway, he also reprised the styling of the previous season with black mohawk headpieces adorned with ominous electrical tape and studded face coverings. Watanabe reworked military jackets as panels, trims, dresses, trenchcoats and parkas in a predominantly khaki palette of heavy cotton drills, boiled wools and lace, each fabric collaged as a metaphor for camouflage.
