About this work
Painted at the height of the artist’s success, this work was completed on one of Albert Namatjira’s many painting trips across Aranda Country during the 1940s. Muted and atmospheric, this painting captures the evening light in a vista of recently burnt eucalyptus trees in the foreground. It is an excellent example of Namatjira’s recording of changes to his Country from environmental factors and First Nations land management practices.
