About this work
Here Jean Paul Gaultier references eighteenth-century decorative traditions, notably the toile de jouy print used for fashion and interiors. Depicting bucolic scenes, the print is used as a symbol of sumptuous dress styles of the period while the folded silhouette shows Gaultier’s interest in hybrid dress forms.
