About this work

Christian Dior loved the colour red – he called it ‘the colour of life’. Dior would place red silhouettes in the middle of his haute couture shows to enliven the crowd. A nod to Dior’s adoration of the colour, Chaperon rouge, blouse and dress is an important example from Yves Saint Laurent’s Trapeze collection, notable for the vibrant hues of its luxurious silk.
