About this work
Composed as a series of interconnected chapters, Christopher Ulutupu’s two-channel video continues his interrogation of historical representations of Pacific peoples and landscapes. Through surreal and tender imagery, The fall provides a deeply moving reflection on postcolonial futures and the potential unravelling of capitalism, asking the powerful question: ‘What happens when it all falls away?’ An immersive, cinematic experience, The fall asks the viewer to consider what might endure, collapse – or even triumph – in the wake of chaos, instability and change.
