About this work

This light was one of two pendant lights designed for the Heurtley house in 1902, this one placed in the breakfast nook of the dining room. Not all of Frank Lloyd Wright’s houses had pendant lights and they were an uncommon feature in his interior designs. This light is the more complex of the two and features triangular and trapezoidal forms with faceted corner details. The shade incorporates broad yellow panes that have been lightly frosted to remove the reflective surface and give a softer glow, as well as iridescent and gilt-glass elements that add a subtle glint to the shade when unlit during the daytime.
