About this work
Christopher Nemeth was a British fashion designer and artist known for merging art and fashion through garments using unconventional materials such as post sacks and painted canvas. A founder of The House of Beauty and Culture in 1980s London, he gained recognition for his innovative tailoring and collaborations, notably with Judy Blame. After relocating to Tokyo in 1986, Nemeth developed a cult following and opened his own store. He never wavered from his vision, prioritising design and process over trends. Nemeth’s practice is typified by the fusion of fashion, painting and sculpture.
