About this work

Driven by a constant ‘search for something new’, Kawakubo’s recent work has shifted towards abstracted sculptural form. Constructed from two separate dress ‘halves’ in stiff, heavy fused fabric, this design typifies that exploration. Each piece
of fabric has been sliced vertically through the centre front and back, then reassembled in overlapping, offset layers.
