About this work

Kawakubo treats each collection as a challenge – both to herself and her audience, striving to create garments that have not been seen before and working without direct reference to history, culture, art or politics. The Neo Future collection highlights her continued interest in exaggerated proportions, wearability and textile treatments. Contrasting colours and fabrics, and linear and cylindrical forms, the work is indicative of Kawakubo’s constant search for newness within her own vocabulary of making.
