About this work
Lissoni & Partners was established in 1986 in Milan by architects Piero Lissoni and Nicoletta Canesi. As the creative director of leading Italian brands including B&B Italia, Alpi, Boffi, De Padova and Living Divani, Lissoni defined an aesthetic based in restraint. Through his dual practice as architect and designer, Lissoni takes full advantage of advances in industrial production to create precisely engineered and manufactured furniture. Piuma chair is made from a composite of carbon fibre and thermoplastic polymer, materials more commonly used in the aerospace and automotive industries than in domestic furniture. Meaning ‘feather’ in Italian, the name Piuma reflects the lightness of the chair, which weighs only 2.4 kilograms.
