About this work
Over nearly four decades, Milan-based designer Piero Lissoni has shaped the visual language of contemporary furniture and interior design. His influence was especially strong in the early 2000s, when his minimalist aesthetic became synonymous with modern luxury. Inspired by the organic form of a soybean, Eda-mame chaise is defined by its asymmetrical, fluid silhouette that combines three types of seating: highback chair, lounge chair and ottoman. Its technical achievement lies in its large, curved shell that is both comfortable and structurally sound. Lissoni’s use of innovative materials, including cold-moulded high-resilience polyurethane foam and stretch-fabric upholstery, results in a structure capable of retaining its sculptural form, a quality previously only achievable in furniture prototypes.
