About this work

Vico Magistretti trained as an architect but began designing plastic furniture during the 1960s. His softly moulded forms of the late 1960s and early 1970s are typical of his chairs that were designed for stability, comfort and ease of use, including stacking. The Vicario armchair was produced in a variety of bright colours, and its rounded, glossy plastic surface reflects advances in manufacturing technologies at the time that allowed chairs to be produced from a single moulding process.
