About this work
James Yates developed the British production of cast-iron furniture at his Rotherham foundry during the 1840s and 1850s, influenced by German cast-iron work that he had seen in Europe. The historical revival design of the table incorporate selements of seventeenth-century baroque and eighteenth century Rococo styles, both of which were highly fashionable during the early to mid nineteenth century.
