About this work
Louise Nevelson was an American sculptor known for her monumental wooden pieces and outdoor sculptures constructed from found objects. She was also an experienced printmaker who produced over 100 prints and multiples during her long career. These included intaglio and lithographic prints as well as lead reliefs and cast paper pulp works. She first tried lithography in 1963 when she created twenty-six print editions during a twomonth residency at Tamarind Lithography Workshop in Los Angeles. Her lithographs reveal her interest in modular units, silhouetted forms and layered elements that are also evident in her sculptures.
