A simple watercolour frame in the manner of gilding direct to the wood, this frame appears very slight for the scale of the work. It is unusual and impressive to see a watercolour framed without a matt in such a minimal border.
Note
1 The label is a type identified by Paula Dredge and Lindsay Parker as dating c. 1922–27. (S. A. Parker Framing Works, AGNSW, 2004.)
Simple oak moulding, oil gilded direct to the wood with no matt or slip. Some cracking in the very shallow cove suggests this section has an under-layer of size.
Good original condition. The frame does not provide rigidity to the assembly.
