Watermark Form
										Strasbourg lily

The Strasbourg lily watermark shows a shield with a fleur-de-lis surmounted by a crown. There are many variants of the Strasbourg lily motif used by papermakers in Strasbourg, and some variants have also been connected to South-West France from the mid-17th century onward.
Watermark and variant description

Strasbourg lily- B variant. Fleur-de-lis on a crowded shield. The central petal rounded. The crown has three bands, the central one being the broadest. Double horns flank the crown, on which there is a complex fleur-de-lis and leaves. Beside the horns are multi-petal flowers. The shield has side scrolls. A chain line does not go through the centre of the watermark.
