Frame
Reproduction, 2002, based on frames contemporary with the painting and a photograph from 1928
The former framing of Spring scene consisted of a thin decorative section and a linen slip.
A relatively small range of frames appear on paintings by Rupert Bunny.
In 2002 a new frame was constructed for the painting based on a photograph from 1928 and other extant original frames on paintings by Bunny. The frame uses a characteristically small scale section relative to the dimensions of the painting and is based broadly on Italian C17th frames.
