Physical description
Woven by the Berlin tapestry workshop founded by Pierre Mercier, during the directorship of Jean Barraband II (1677–1725). Based upon the "Grotesques" tapestries produced at Beauvais to designs by Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer. Barraband was joined by Charles Vigne in 1720, and Vigne took over the workshop in 1725 upon Barraband’s death. Low warp weaving. Brilliant colours on a soft brown ground.
