About this work

Avalokiteshvara is one of the most popular and frequently depicted figures in Buddhism. Shown here in the simplest of his many forms, he holds a lotus and extends his right hand in the gesture of gift giving (varada mudra). Avalokiteshvara is the bodhisattva of compassion and the patron bodhisattva of Tibet.
