About this work

Water vessels are important Buddhist ritual objects used to sprinkle purifying water over deity images and devotees. They are attributes of Maitreya, Buddha of the future, and the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara who usually holds a water container of the nectar of compassion with which he assuages the suffering of his followers.
