About this work
Peter Tyndall makes conceptual art about people looking at art. Since the late 1970s he has given all his works the same title, each one described as a ‘detail’ of a continuous project. In this panel, photos of the artist are bracketed by the letters ‘L’ and ‘S’, a reference to logos, the Ancient Greek term for ‘word’. Its associated meanings range from thought, reason and order to the story of Creation in the Gospel of John, which begins, ‘In the beginning was the Word’. Paired with ‘HA HA’, Tyndall highlights the layered puns and meanings in his work.
