Physical description
(a) The jacket is made in a black and white woollen fabric, woven with a fine herringbone pattern. Waist length with a blouse effect, the jacket has round lapels and a deep neckline fastened with a single button. The sleeves have padded shoulders and are gathered into the cuff. The back is assembled from two panels, and seamed along the centre back. The jacket is fully lined in black silk. (b) The matching skirt is constructed from four straight panels, the waist gathered into a narrow waistband. Two pockets sit inside the front seams. Fastening at the centre back with a zipper, the skirt is fully lined in black silk. (c) The blouse in grey silk satin has a plunging shawl neckline, the front panels are gathered at the shoulderline, and sewn down to create a series of broad set pleats. The sleeves and back panels are plain. Around the waist an attached gathered cummerbund draws in the waistline.
