Frame
Reproduction, 2005, based on frames contemporary with the painting
Yalla-y-Poora had been reframed prior to acquisition by the NGV, with a variant of a classical revival, composition frame (see image above).
The decision to reframe the painting came in 2005 with funds provided by the H.D.T. Williamson Foundation to clean the painting. Options for the prototype were discussed and the decision was made to use the frame on von Guerard's Valley of the Acheron River, Victoria, 1863, in a private collection in NSW. This frame is very similar to the frame on von Guerard's Weatherboard Creek Falls in the NGV collection.
The H.D.T. Williamson Foundation funded the cost of the reproduction frame along with the cleaning of the painting.
