Reproduction, 2010, based on 19th century frames by Isaac Whitehead.
Frame
Eugene Von Guerard’s small version of Spring in the Valley of the Mitta Mitta came into the collection in 2004.
The larger version of the subject, also in the NGV collection, has an original Isaac Whitehead frame.
A new frame, based on frames by Isaac Whitehead on paintings by von Guerard, was made in 2010.
The painting was cleaned and restored in 2005-06.
