About this work
The name ‘Droog’, meaning ‘dry’ in Dutch, reflects the design collective’s signature blend of dry humour and a pared-back aesthetic. Rodi Graumans’ iconic Chandelier 85 lamps is a deceptively simple reinterpretation of the traditional chandelier featuring eighty-five bare light bulbs suspended from individual cords. This piece exemplifies Droog’s ethos of utility and wit, illustrating how household objects can evoke emotions through minimalist yet impactful design.
