About this work
Trevor ‘Turbo’ Brown was a Latje Latje man who was born in Mildura before relocating to Naarm/Melbourne at the age of fifteen. He established a career as an artist, predominantly working in painting, but was also a boxer, rapper and breakdancer. Turbo‚Äôs signature bold and colourful paintings pulsate with energy and movement. His portraits of animals and urban and bush landscapes reflect on his experiences, observations and relationship with Country. They celebrate the culture, knowledge and spirit of Victorian First Peoples and are a reminder to be present, look after the environment, be kind to one another, and ‘listen closely to the animals’.
