Physical description
This forehead decoration of woven traditional fibre and nasa shells was collected at Popondetta, Oro Province. The decoration is worn immediately in front of a leather head dress. An example of this layered display is depicted in the photograph of 'Bernard' opposite page 158 of Arthur Kent Chignell's 'An Outpost in Papua' published by Smith, Elder & Co in 1911. (21 x 16 cm)
