Physical description
Constructed from black and white striped silk fabrics. Slits at the front through which the hands protrude when the mantle is worn, draped over the head and reaching to the ground. Long narrow vestigial sleeves extend to the hem and drape down the back when the mantle is worn. The openings and hems are embellished with braid and /or embroidery and tassles. Additional embroidery at the back neck, around the hand openings, and at the chest. Lined with Russian block-printed cotton fabric and edged with ikat silks.
