Journal des Dames

Established by Parisian bookseller Jean-Baptiste Sellèque, Journal des Dames et des Modes is one of the earliest illustrated fashion periodicals. It was first published in 1797 and ran for forty-two years, informing readers of the latest women and men’s fashions and recommending couturiers and milliners capable of reproducing them.
