The NGV is for everyone. Art and design can inspire authentic and meaningful learning for students of all levels, however, we recognise that some students benefit from a more individualised approach to make this possible.

This introduction to the NGV invites students to explore the gallery through a flexible and supportive program model. Designed for diverse learning needs, it encourages curiosity and imagination while enabling students to respond creatively to works in the Collection and connect what they see with their own lives and experiences.

The program supports both students and teachers to feel more confident and empowered when visiting the gallery. Prior to your visit, an NGV educator will be in contact to discuss tailored program options, including structure, selected artworks, activities, and available sensory and visual supports to best suit your group.

Learning Objectives

  • Observe and respond to art and design from the NGV Collection
  • Discover new ideas and thoughts in a safe and supported environment
  • Develop and practice social-emotional skills through supported learning opportunities within the Gallery context

Duration: Up to 60 minutes
Cost: $11 per student

Booking Form 

We require four weeks notice for all bookings.

Changes to your booking must be made in writing. Changes can be made up to 14 days prior to your visit. Invoices will be sent prior to the visit. Full program fees will be incurred for late cancellations or amendments.

Program Selection

Are you booking another program on this date?
Please provide details of any relevant themes and skills your students are learning about at school. While we cannot offer individually tailored programs, our museum educators will consider this information when selecting and discussing works of art during the program.

Date Selection

We recommend you provide three date options for your program to avoid disappointment. We will do our best to accommodate your first preference, however due to high demand this may not always be possible.

Terms and Conditions

We do not take tentative bookings. Bookings are considered firm at time of booking. Any amendments, including changes to participant numbers, must be made by email at least 14 days prior to the program. Invoices will be sent prior to the visit. Full program fees will be incurred for late cancellations or amendments. Payment must be paid at least one week prior to the visit.
