Join an NGV educator to learn about Westwood | Kawakubo online, and discover how two of the most influential designers in recent history changed how we think about fashion today. This interactive discussion will examine themes, ideas, influences, materials and techniques and provide opportunities to analyse and interpret select works from the exhibition. This online program is an ideal way introduce students to the exhibition prior to a visit.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify key historical, cultural and social influences on Westwood and Kawakubo’s design.
  • Discuss how Westwood and Kawakubo used innovative materials, techniques and processes to challenge conventions with their design.
  • Analyse and interpret themes and ideas Westwood and Kawakubo’s design, and how these are conveyed through form, structure, pattern, and design principles.
    • Duration: 45 mins plus self-guided time in the exhibition

      Changes to your booking must be made in writing. Changes can be made up to 14 days prior to your visit. Invoices will be sent prior to the visit. Full program fees will be incurred for late cancellations or amendments.

      Students must be supervised at all times by a teacher or adult. We request:
      • At least one teacher/adult for every 20 students for students in Year 2 or above.
      • At least one teacher/adult for every 15 students for K to Year 1 students.

      We recommend you provide three date options for your program to avoid disappointment. We will do our best to accommodate your first preference, however due to high demand this may not always be possible.
