My Heroes | Outreach Incursion
Levels F–6

Let NGV come to you! Our educator-led incursions fit into your schedule and offer students and teachers who may not be able to visit the Gallery opportunities to connect with the NGV Collection from your own classroom or art room.

In this incursion, students are introduced to artworks from the NGV’s First Nations and Australian Art Collection that explore cultural icons, community and life on Country, inspired by the bold, recognisable style of Yankunytjatjara artist Kaylene Whiskey. After discussing how artists express identity and celebrate cultural figures, students create a vibrant collage honouring their own heroes, objects and symbols.

Each program includes:

  • The delivery of two 75-minute workshops, for up to 30 students per session
  • All necessary art materials
  • Facilitation by an NGV Educator, with the support of an NGV Learn Program Assistant

NGV outreach incursions are available on-demand to schools within a 60km radius of Melbourne. For schools beyond this range, please reach out to us at education.bookings@ngv.vic.gov.au to explore possibilities.

Duration: 75 minutes

Cost: $950 for two 75-minute workshops (up to 30 students per workshop session). Additional workshops can be included in your booking for an additional fee.
