Bring the vibrant world of Melbourne-based South Sudanese artist Atong Atem straight into your classroom with this interactive virtual session, unpacking Atem’s multi-layered photography portraits, examining how she explores complex ideas around identity, memory, and heritage.

Atem’s striking images celebrate cultural resilience and self-expression. Through dynamic on-screen analysis, live discussions, and guided looking strategies, students will build a deeper understanding of Atem’s art-making practice. This is an ideal program to book before a self-guided visit to the exhibition.

Please note, the content and discussion focus for this program will be tailored to the specific year level or group.

Learning Objectives/ Students will:

  • Analyse how Atong Atem uses visual language and to explore concepts of heritage, memory and identity.
  • Discuss how artists use works of art to express themselves.
  • Share ideas about the exhibition themes through on-screen analysis and interactive group discussion.

Duration: 1 hour
Cost: $180 connection fee

We require four weeks notice for all bookings.

Changes to your booking must be made in writing. Changes can be made up to 14 days prior to your visit. Invoices will be sent prior to the visit. Full program fees will be incurred for late cancellations or amendments.

We recommend you provide three date options for your program to avoid disappointment. We will do our best to accommodate your first preference, however due to high demand this may not always be possible.
