Step into the vibrant world of Melbourne-based South Sudanese artist Atong Atem, where photography and storytelling come together. Through colourful portraits and lively discussion inside the exhibition space, students will discover how Atong uses colour, pattern, clothing, and symbolic objects to communicate ideas about identity, culture and belonging.

Drawing on family histories, memories and African studio photography traditions, Atem’s richly layered works connect personal stories with themes of resilience, migration and community. Through close looking and interactive activities in the exhibition spaces, students will consider how Atem uses photography to share stories and celebrate her identity and personal experiences.

Please note, the content and discussion focus for this program will be tailored to the specific year level or group.
