Starting in February, NGV Summer Sunday Sessions is a new event in the Grollo Equiset Gardens at the NGV.
The National Gallery of Victoria is celebrating summer with a series of exciting exhibitions and free events.
NGV Summer Sunday Sessions will feature music, BBQ food and drinks as well as a range of fun and interactive events.
Tony Ellwood, Director, NGV said; “We have a diverse and exciting program of exhibitions and events at the NGV this summer and hope to encourage all visitors to engage with and participate in great art. NGV Summer will have something for everyone.”
Part of NGV Summer Sunday Sessions, a series of special forums will be held as a precursor to the highly anticipated Melbourne Now exhibition scheduled for October 2013.
Mr Ellwood said that the Melbourne Now Forums will be led by voices from Melbourne’s cultural and creative sector.
“The Melbourne Now forums held at the NGV this summer will look at the latest ideas behind art, design, fashion, architecture, film and music – the issues facing the cultural community in Melbourne,” said Mr Ellwood.

Major exhibitions on display as part of NGV Summer at both NGV International and The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia include Radiance: The Neo-Impressionists, Jeff Wall Photographs, Thomas Demand, RALLY: Jompet Kuswidananto and Eko Nugroho, Ballet & Fashion and just sing what you feel, a kids and family exhibition created by contemporary artist Jon Campbell.
