NGV x Kérastase Power Talks: Adwoa Aboah

16 September 2026: Celebrated British model, actress and mental health advocate, Adwoa Aboah, will appear exclusively in conversation in Melbourne for the inaugural NGV x Kérastase Power Talks on 1 October 2026. A biannual event where highly passionate, leading female voices in art, design and culture share their important stories and issues of contemporary life, Power Talks provides a platform for those whose ideas are shaping what comes next – recognising not only their work, but their contribution to the cultural landscape.

The NGV-exclusive event with Adwoa Aboah marks the first Australian iteration of Kérastase’s global Power Talks series, which has been delivered in major cities globally including Paris, Mumbai, LA and Warsaw, and featured the likes of Demi Moore, Emily Ratajkowski and Amelia Dimoldenberg. This is the first time Kérastase has partnered with a cultural institution to deliver the series.

Recognised as a ‘Next Generation Leader’ on the cover of Time Magazine, 34-year-old Adwoa Aboah is internationally renowned for her groundbreaking modelling career. She has appeared on the covers of and in editorials for Vogue, W, i-D, Dazed, and ELLE, fronted campaigns for Dior, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Swarovski, and Rimowa, and been the face of global brands including Nike, Jo Malone London, and Rimmel.

Adwoa made her acting debut in Netflix’s acclaimed series Top Boy (2019-23), and has also appeared in the Disney+ series Willow (2022-23), Lena Dunham’s Netflix series Too Much (2025), and feature film Satisfaction (2025), which premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival. She will next appear in Michael B. Jordan’s reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair, scheduled for release in 2027.

Beyond her work in entertainment and fashion, Adwoa has become one of the leading global voices on young women’s mental health. In 2015, she founded Gurls Talk, a nonprofit organisation providing early, accessible mental health support for girls and young women through evidence-based programs, trusted resources, and community. Through Gurls Talk, Adwoa has convened global events, built an international community, and reached millions worldwide.

In 2024, Adwoa combined her passion for design, fashion and entrepreneurship with the launch The Veil, a handbag label created with designer Georgie Wright and inspired by the historic châtelaine, a modular system of chains that allowed women to carry daily essentials.

Born and raised in West London, Adwoa trained with the National Youth Theatre before earning a degree in Modern Drama from Brunel University.

Tony Ellwood AM, Director, NGV, said: ‘Adwoa Aboah is a leading voice of her generation – not only through her work in fashion and entertainment, but through her commitment to mental health initiatives. We’re proud to be partnering with Kérastase to share Adwoa’s voice, creativity and advocacy with Australian audiences through the inaugural Power Talks event at the NGV.’

Samuel Choong, Brand Director, Kérastase, said: ‘As an embodiment of Kérastase’s legacy of empowerment, Time “Next Generation Leader” Adwoa Aboah is the ideal headliner for the inaugural NGV x Kérastase Power Talks. Through her global platform and Gurls Talk, she champions young women’s mental health, reinforcing Kérastase’s commitment to elevating diverse female voices.’

Adwoa Aboah said: ‘I can’t wait to visit Melbourne and the NGV for the first time for the NGV x Kérastase Power Talks. I truly believe that when we share our own stories and experiences it builds the foundation for a strong community, where we can empower ourselves and each other. I look forward to sharing my own career journey and creative practice – the successes, challenges and career-defining moments – and how we can help each build confidence on our own journeys – a topic close to my heart.’

NGV x Kérastase Power Talks: Adwoa Aboah is at NGV International, St Kilda Road, Melbourne on 1 October 2026. Admission is FREE but bookings are essential. Tickets are available at 6:00PM on Wednesday 16 September 2026. Information and tickets are available via the NGV website: NGV.MELBOURNE
