The President of Council of Trustees of the National Gallery of Victoria, Mr Allan Myers, recently announced two new members, Andrew Sisson and Susan Cohn.
Andrew Sisson, who was appointed in May, is the managing director of Balanced Equity Management Pty Limited. As a share investment manager, Sisson has previously worked for National Mutual managing share portfolios in Australia and the UK. Andrew is also a member of the Save the Children Australia Board, the Takeovers Panel, the ASX Listing Appeals Committee and the Supreme Court of Victoria – Investments Review Panel to Senior Master (Funds in Court).
Andrew Sisson has also been an external member of the NGV Investment Committee for the past five years.
Appointed in June, Susan Cohn is a visual artist, who also works as a designer and jeweller. Susan initially trained in gold and silversmithing at RMIT and has been the sole director of Workshop 3000 since 1984. Represented by Anna Schwartz Gallery, Cohn has exhibited extensively in Australia and internationally, and her work is included in all major Australian public gallery collections.
Among other accomplishments, Susan has won several awards, served as President of Craft Victoria and has been inducted into the Design Institute of Australia Hall of Fame. Susan has a Doctor of Philosophy in Fine Art Theory and is currently curating an international exhibition of contemporary jewellery for the Design Museum, London.
Mr Myers said: “It is with great pleasure that I welcome Andrew and Susan to the NGV Council of Trustees.
“The two new members bring with them a wealth of experience, from Andrew’s extensive knowledge of the financial sector to Susan’s involvement in the arts as both an artist and a curator,” said Mr Myers.
The NGV is constituted by the National Gallery of Victoria Act 1966. The Act specifies that ‘in carrying out its functions, the Council must endeavour to contribute to the enrichment of the cultural, educational, social and economic life of the people of Victoria’.
