Spanning painting, photography, video, sculpture, installation, fashion, textiles, ceramics and design, the exhibition places contemporary works in dialogue with the NGV’s historical collections.

What is the NGV Gala?

The NGV Gala is a Black Tie celebration that combines contemporary art and design, fashion, food, performance and an exclusive preview of NGV Triennial 2026. Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy food, drinks and entertainment – all included in the ticket price.

Held on Saturday 12 December 2026 at NGV International, the NGV Gala coincides with the opening of NGV Triennial.

How can I book a ticket?


Tickets to the 2026 NGV Gala Party have now sold out.

Please note, as the NGV Gala is a pre-sale event only, we are unable to offer ticket sales at the door on the evening.

What is included in the ticket price?

Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy food, drinks and entertainment – all included in the ticket price.

Does GST apply? Is my ticket tax deductible?

Gala tickets are input taxed and are not tax deductible.

Is there a group discount?

The NGV is unable to provide group discounts for this event.

Do NGV Members receive a discount?

NGV Members do not receive discounts or reciprocal membership discounts for this event.

Are tickets refundable or transferable?

Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you wish to discuss your booking, please email ngvgala@ngv.vic.gov.au.

Can I buy tickets at the door on the night?

No, the NGV Gala is a pre-sale event only.

How will I receive my ticket?

You will receive a booking confirmation email upon purchasing and your unique ticket will be emailed closer to the event. This ticket will be required for entry.

Please present your ticket/s, either printed or shown on a mobile device, for entry upon arrival at NGV.

Is this an over 18 event?

Yes, all attendees must be 18 years or older.

What is the dress code?

Black Tie.

What is the address? What time does the event start and conclude?

Guests are asked to enter the event via the Waterwall entrance at NGV International, 180 St Kilda Road, Melbourne.

The Gala Party commences at 8pm and the evening will conclude at 1am on Sunday 13 December.

Will there be photography?

Event photographers will be capturing arrivals and the event proceedings throughout the evening. Photography of the event will be available for guests to download via email, which will be sent to ticket holders with a link to access images. Please note, photography and video recordings may be used for media and NGV promotional purposes.
