NGV partners with the British Museum to present Pharaoh, a landmark exhibition that celebrates three thousand years of ancient Egyptian art and culture. Through more than 500 works, including monumental sculpture, architecture, temple statuary, exquisite jewellery, papyri, coffins and a rich array of funerary objects, the exhibition will unpack the phenomenon of pharaoh, those all-powerful kings claiming a divine origin.

Developed by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and presented in Melbourne in partnership with the NGV, Africa Fashion is the largest exhibition of fashions from this region in an Australian art institution to date. More than 50 designers and artists from 20 African countries are represented in the exhibition that celebrates African fashion from the mid-twentieth century to the present day.

The NGV has teamed up with artists and designers from around Australia to develop a series of creative workshops exclusively for students. Through an interactive educator-led gallery tour and studio workshops, students will explore the creative process of the featured artist and develop skills and techniques derived from the artist’s practice and sources of inspiration.

All NGV Learn programs are aligned to the Australian Curriculum and a certificate of completion can be provided on request.

PRIVATE GALLERY DINNER: THE BANQUET OF CLEOPATRA

This is truly an unforgettable evening of art, music, and fine dining at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) – Australia’s oldest and most visited art gallery.

We work with operators to ensure this experience is tailored to their guests’ interests from the moment they arrive. The exclusive and private evening commences with a curatorial tour of the Gallery where guests can discover the highlights of the NGV’s acclaimed international collection. There will be moments throughout the journey to pause for live music or a glass of champagne before a degustation dinner, served with accompanying wines. Set within the gallery space, the dinner is directly in front of NGV’s revered masterpiece, Giambattista Tiepolo’s The Banquet of Cleopatra.

Prior booking is essential with a 6-week lead time from enquiry encouraged
