In this issue of NGV Magazine, we feature Paris-based Melbourne-born designer Martin Grant, on the occasion of the opening of the major exhibition Martin Grant at The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia. We also delve into the important body of work by Larrakia photographer Gary Lee and explore the remarkable contribution Clement Meadmore made to the Australian and international design and art world. Elsewhere, we write on the new acquisition of Edvard Munch’s Early spring, 1903–05 and on the centenary of the groundbreaking exhibition Exposition internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes (International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts) which gave rise to the Art Deco style in Paris a century ago.

This groundbreaking exhibition gave us the term ‘Art Deco’, and the design style that became intrinsically linked with it.
