Exhibition layout and navigation

The exhibition is located on Ground Floor, on your left-hand side as you enter from the main entrance.

The exhibition follows a set path. If you need assistance exiting quickly, please see a security team member. All security team members are first aid trained.

Exhibition sensory environment

The exhibition presents an immersive experience which uses flashing lights and other lighting effects, large moving image screens, mirrors, and a fairly loud soundtrack in places.

The sensory map shows the locations of audiovisual content, sensory elements and seating, and can help you prepare for your visit.

Gallery spaces are air-conditioned and are between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius.

Great Hall program and sensory environment

The Great Hall is a very large room with carpet, bluestone walls and a colourful stained-glass ceiling.

Friday Nights: Westwood | Kawakubo presents a series of DJ performances in the Great Hall. See Friday Nights for the full program.

As the sun sets there is low light levels in the Great Hall, with the stage and bars lit up. Coloured and moving light effects are shown on the ceiling and haze effects are used. The music levels are fairly loud. No strobing is used.

The Great Hall is busy and noisy. If you need a lower-sensory area, we recommend the area next to Gallery Kitchen in front of the lift.

The NGV Garden will be closed for Friday Nights: Westwood | Kawawkubo.
