Pharaoh
Curated especially for the National Gallery of Victoria by the British Museum as part of the Victorian Government’s Melbourne Winter Masterpieces® series, NGV presents a landmark exhibition that explores the phenomena of the Pharaoh.
Through more than 500 objects, including monumental sculpture, architecture, temple statuary, exquisite jewelry, papyri, coffins and a rich array of funerary objects, the exhibition will unpack the phenomenon of pharaoh, those all-powerful kings claiming a divine origin, and explore the realities, mythologies and iconographies of kingship in ancient Egypt.
