Celebrate Book Week 2026 with bestselling author Jacqueline Harvey and a new online writing workshop inspired by the NGV Collection. This fun and interactive session invites students to step into the world of mystery writing – learning how to build suspense, create intriguing characters and craft unexpected twists. Led by one of Australia’s most loved children’s authors, students will discover how artworks can spark imaginative story ideas and help bring their mysteries to life.

- Experiment with language to build tension and atmosphere
- Produce short pieces of mystery writing inspired by artworks

About the author
Jacqueline Harvey is one of Australia’s most popular authors for children. She has written over 60 books including the bestselling Alice-Miranda, Clementine Rose, Kensy and Max and Willa and Woof series, which have received numerous short-listings and awards and are published internationally. Her picture book, The Sound of the Sea was a CBCA Honour Book in 2006.
She has recently released a variety of picture books including three stories in the Kevin the Sheep series, The Daring Tale of Glora the Great, and That Cat, all illustrated by her former student, animator, and illustrator Kate Isobel Scott. Her latest middle-grade offering is, The Girl and the Ghost series, of which the first two books have now been published with more to come.
