Access

Everyone is welcome at the NGV. We offer a range of accessible resources, facilities, and events. For further information, visit our Access webpage.

Join us during Dementia Action Week 2025 for a free Open Studio for people living with dementia, their family, friends and carers.

The Open Studio is a welcoming space for people whose lives are affected by dementia to connect with others, explore creative activities at your own pace, and learn more about the dementia-friendly programs available at the NGV.

Drop in at any time and take part in hands-on artmaking in a relaxed and supportive environment. A variety of materials will be available, with trained NGV Educators there to guide and assist as needed. No art skills or experience are required to participate.

The NGV Cafe, located in the Atrium, just outside the NGV Australia entrance, will be open for those who would like to purchase something to eat or drink during their visit to the Gallery.

To help us better accommodate the needs of bigger groups, we encourage you to let us know if you are attending the Open Studio with more than 5 people. You can email us at edu.bookings@ngv.vic.gov.au

The NGV gratefully acknowledges Karen McLeod Adair and Anthony Adair AM for their generous support of the NGV’s art and dementia initiatives.
